Propanidid, b.p. 210-212°, is a pale greenish-yellow viscous liquid with a slight odour. It is very slightly soluble in water; miscible with alcohol, chloroform and  ether.

Propanidid has been used as an  intravenous anaesthetic for rapid induction and for maintenance of anaesthesia of short duration
