BUSULPHAN
Brand Names : Methanesulphonic
acid tetramethylene ester; CB-2041; GT 41: Misulban; Mitosan; Myleran;
Myelosan; Myeleukon; Myelolukon; Sulfabutin; Meilucin.
Busulphan, m.p. 114-118°, is a white
crystalline powder. It is sparingly soluble in water, but dissolves slowly as
hydrolysis takes place; soluble in alcohol and acetone. It is stored in
airtight containers and protected from light.
Uses:. Busulphanis an antineoplastic agent and
has depressant action on bone marrow. It is used in the palliative treatment of
chronic granulocytic leukaemia
Side Effect
The most important side-effects of
busulphan in high olutions dosage are leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and
haemorrhage to symptoms
