CARBAMAZEPINE

Carbamazepine possesses the dibenzazepine ring system of the
psychotherapeutic drug imipramine. It occurs as white crystalline powder, m.p. 190-193°.
It is practically insoluble in water and ether; sparingly soluble in alcohol;
soluble in chloroform (1 in 10); soluble in acetone. It is stored in airtight
containers.
Uses:
Carbamazepine is an antiepileptic agent used to control grandmaland partial
seizures; and to treat trigeminal neuralgia.
