CARBENICILLIN SODIUM

Brand Names: BRL-2064, Carbenicillin disodium; CP-15639. 2; Anabactyl; Carbapen; Carbecin; Geopen; Hyoper; Microcillin; Pyocianil, Pyopen, Disodium a-carboxybenzyl penicilin.

Carbenicillin sodium occurs as a white hygroscopic powder. It is soluble in water (1 in 1.2) and alcohol (1 in 25); practically insoluble in chloroform and ether. A 10 per cent solution in water has a pH of 6 to 8. Aqueosis solutions of carbenicillin sodium are reported to be stable for up to 24 hours at room temperature.

Uses
